Anxiety. It's such a hot topic in today's world. It's on the forefront of everyone's minds, it's something almost everyone struggles with, and I would even argue it's part of what makes today's world turn (which is appalling!). So let's discuss some things we can actually DO the next time we're feeling overrun by overwhelm.

1. Write about it!
If you're a regular reader, you've heard me talk about this time and time again. Journaling provides a phenomenal way to get anxious ideas out of your head. Stop laying awake in the middle of the night stressing about finances or wondering if you forgot to do something that day. Find a place to get your worries, fears, stresses, and to do's written down on paper and you'll instantly feel more organized and motivated to stop dwelling on them.

2. Get your hands moving.
Those who struggle with overall anxiety have been heralding the benefits of busy work for years. Take up crafting, crocheting, hand lettering, drawing, cooking, cleaning -- whatever works for you! Giving your brain something else to focus on is a calming distraction. Not only are you escaping from the overwhelm while you're actually in the middle of using your hands, but it will leave you feeling calm and accomplished afterward as well.

3. Get literally organized.
Chaos breeds chaos. One of the fastest ways for me to stay calm is to keep my home (and business...and life!) organized. The secret is twofold: 1) The act of organizing itself can be calming and distracting when you're feeling overwhelmed, and 2) when things are organized it's easier for you to keep from getting anxious all over again!
